LedgerWorks Systems is an industrial intelligence firm based in Petersburg.

The carbon system is the physical movement and transformation of carbon through geology, energy, industry, infrastructure, and computation.

Coal, hydrocarbons, steel, electricity, freight, agriculture, chemical production, and data systems are not isolated industries. They are connected parts of the same physical process — carbon stored, transformed, transported, and used at scale.

LedgerWorks Systems focuses on observing these systems, organizing their history, mapping their relationships, and maintaining long-term industrial records and intelligence.

The carbon system is approached as infrastructure: measurable, traceable, and continuously evolving across time.

Hydrocarbons, coal, steel, transport, electricity, agriculture, and chemistry are all manifestations of carbon-state transformation. Read together, they are one system.

We maintain an observation surface over the carbon system and the industrial infrastructure that runs on it. The work has three faces, each given its own page on this site.

We collect structured records of industrial reality — energy generation, grid behavior, freight movement, refinery throughput, permits and filings — and read them as states of one carbon system.

Archive

We treat industrial and scientific memory as load-bearing. Surveys, engineering manuals, microfiche, maps, and operational records are the long baseline against which the present is measured.

We publish a calm, public account of what the carbon system is doing — an observatory's record, not a forecast and not a sales pitch.
