Where we are
LedgerWorks Systems is based in Petersburg, West Virginia — Grant County, in the South Branch Potomac valley of the Appalachian highlands.
This is not an incidental address. Appalachia is one of the original landscapes of the carbon system: coal measures, the rail and river networks built to move them, the transmission corridors that followed, and a long industrial memory held in surveys, manuals, and the knowledge of people who worked the systems. An institution that studies the carbon system has good reason to sit inside one of its founding regions.
We study the carbon system from inside one of the landscapes that built it. The location is part of the method.
What we are
LedgerWorks Systems is an industrial-intelligence firm and a carbon-systems observatory. Our work has four standing commitments:

We hold the carbon system — geology, hydrocarbons, electricity, metallurgy, agriculture, logistics, computation, atmosphere — as the coherent center of that work.

How we work
LedgerWorks builds the way an engineering institution builds: deliberately, in plain documents, with a long horizon. The published record is meant to be accurate when it goes out and still legible years later.
This site is the firm's public authority surface. It is not a sales channel. There are no accounts and no data-sales surface here. Where there is a deeper working relationship to be had — datasets, analysis, archival access — it is handled directly.
